For the third year in a row Western Port and Mornington Secondary College students from our VET Fashion Studies have participated in the Peninsula Teenage Fashion Expo held at Dromana Secondary College. Again our students talents were rewarded by the judges with a third place award in the Special Occasion Category and three Encouragement Awards, which included a scholarship to the Whitehouse Institute of Fashion.
We must congratulate My Ha, Amanda, Rhiannon, Olivija, Kirstie and Naybuay who between them designed, drafted and produced 12 beautiful outfits showcased on the night. Also a huge thank you to Bec and Kellie-Ann who assisted by modelling some of the garments for our Western Port students. We are all very proud of their effort and commitment, especially as they have to participate at weekends and in the evenings to represent our College. Well done girls and a big thank you to their parents for their continued support as well!
During October students from the VET Fashion Studies class participated at the “Tickled Pink at Tyabb” High Tea. Gina Mathers on behalf of the Tyabb Aero Club invited us to again showcase our student’s fantastic fashions that they have designed, drafted and produced in class. The event is a fundraiser in support of Breast Cancer and our students were more than happy to support such a worthwhile cause. Nine students, representing four colleges, modelled 16 different outfits produced by eleven of our students.
The audience was most impressed with the talent and the confidence displayed by our students and gave loads of very positive feedback, especially when we all made our way down onto the airfield for a flyover photo shoot. The girls were also able to benefit from the opportunity to get some fabulous ‘Vogue-like’ photos in amongst the planes for their fashion folios. A huge thank you to the girls for giving up a day of their holidays to represent our college in such a professional way.
