WPSC and Abacus Learning Partnership
Abacus Learning is a not-for-profit organisation that supports children with Autism. Abacus came into being in 2008 when a team of parents and supporters shared an inspired vision to provide crucial intensive early intervention for children with ASD on the Mornington Peninsula. Abacus Learning Centre, provides individualised ABA programs at its current centre in Hastings, and in schools across the Mornington Peninsula and Frankston, along with pre-school and school integration services for students.
The current venue used by Abacus is no longer viable and for some time now we have been in discussion with them about relocating to our site for approximately 2 years whilst they construct a purpose built facility on a municipal site in Hastings. The school is pleased to advise that as of 2016 Abacus will utilize the disused trade wing and area on the western side of the school property. This area is currently out of bounds to our students and will remain so, however it is envisaged that there will be opportunities for some interaction in the future. Abacus will commence working on the building in the next few weeks to bring it up to a suitable standard for their needs. Anyone interested in supporting or volunteering for Abacus can contact their executive director Lauren Moore on 0407 759 253.
