On Thursday 22nd September the College held its first whole school assembly in the new gym. There were many awards and recognitions of achievement that were celebrated included the many students who performed well in the recent interschool athletics championships.
A couple of highlights included Greg Hardingham receiving the 2011 Defence Technical Scholarship from the ADF. This is the second student from the College to receive this with Ryan Mulheron receiving the award in 2009.
Greg had to complete a rigourous application process which included demonstrating his knowledge of trades and describing what he would do as an ADF tradesperson in a real life crisis situation. He competed with over 2000 students from across Australia to win this award. Congratulations to Greg on this great achievement.
We also presented certificates to Jessica Runting, Ben Janz and Emily Monck who will be attending a Monash University High Achievers Program during the holiday break. This is part of WPSC formal relationship with Monash University through the Schools Access Monash Program (SAM).
It was great to see so much success celebrated and we look forward to many more assemblies in the future.
